We say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children!

After a year where we achieved  an Outstanding for both Personal Development and Behaviour & Attitudes, in our Ofsted report 2025, Year 6 ended the year on a high! We have been truly blessed to have these exceptional young people as part of our St. Mary’s Claughton family. This week, with full hearts, we say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 leavers as they spread their wings and begin the next chapter of their journey. Their final weeks have been filled with joy, adventure, and celebration. From flying high at Hothersall Lodge, to ice cream and mini golf fun at the Flower Bowl, to a circus training and crafty treat day, and their last magical Forest Schools afternoon—they’ve made memories that will last a lifetime. We’ve also shared in the emotion of a beautiful Leavers’ Mass and a heartfelt Leavers’ Assembly, where laughter and tears reminded us just how special this group truly is.

Throughout their time with us, they have shown resilience, kindness, creativity, and a deep sense of community. Whether it was through their achievements in the classroom, their readings and performances at church,  or the way they supported one another through challenges, they have left a lasting mark on our school. They have been role models to the younger pupils, peers and all staff in our school.  We’ve laughed together, learned together, and grown together—and now, as they prepare to move on, we know they carry with them the values and spirit of St. Mary’s. Though they may be leaving the nest, they will always be part of our story here at St. Mary’s. We are so proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see the incredible things they will go on to achieve.

And while we always say that kindness, joy, and character matter more than any test score, we are incredibly proud of their academic achievements too. Through sheer determination and hard work, every single child passed every SATs test—100% success across the board! This is a remarkable accomplishment, and they truly deserve every bit of that success.

Go forward with courage, with kindness, and with the confidence that you are ready. Your story is just beginning—and it’s going to be amazing.
