Inspiring Adventures: Author Visit, Fire & Rescue, Food Bank Outreach & EYFS & Outdoor Creativity
This week has been a shining example of what makes our school community so special—learning that goes beyond the classroom, experiences that spark curiosity, and opportunities to give back. Here’s a closer look at each highlight:
Author Visit – Igniting Imaginations
We were privileged to welcome a talented author who brought stories to life and shared the secrets behind great writing. Pupils listened intently as the author explained how ideas grow into books, and many were inspired to start their own stories. Author visits nurture creativity, build confidence in writing, and show children that their ideas have value.
Fire & Rescue – Safety in Action
Our local Fire & Rescue team delivered an unforgettable session on fire safety. Pupils learned practical tips for staying safe at home and school, explored the fire engine, and even tried on real gear. These hands-on experiences make safety lessons stick. Understanding fire safety is essential for every child, and meeting real firefighters helps pupils appreciate the bravery and dedication behind the uniform.

Local Food Bank Trip – Giving Back
Our school’s CAFOD Club led a fantastic initiative to collect food for Garstang Foodbank, which supports around 15 families every week. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our parents and carers, we were able to make a meaningful contribution that will help families in need.
During the visit, pupils met the wonderful volunteers who explained their roles and shared why they dedicate their time to helping others. Their stories were truly inspiring and showed the power of community action. Pupils also helped sort donations and asked thoughtful questions, gaining a deeper understanding of how kindness changes lives.
What’s next?
Our journey of giving continues! The next stop is the Homeless Action Group in Lancaster, where we have collected warm clothes to support those facing the cold winter season. Together, we are showing that compassion and care can make a real difference.

Magical Bird Feeders & Outdoor Fun
Inspired by the season of creation, Blossom class have been making bust bird feeders. We have an abundance of wildlife in our wonderful school grounds, so we look forward to see even more birds in our trees, thanks to Blossom class! Our outdoor learning initiative continued with pupils designing and creating bird feeders. These beautiful creations now hang around the school grounds, ready to welcome wildlife. Pupils also explored nature, noticing seasonal changes and discussing how we can care for our environment. Outdoor learning fosters creativity, teamwork, and a deep respect for nature—skills and attitudes that last a lifetime.

Special Feature – Early Years Video
We are thrilled to share a stunning video of our Early Years area, created by Freddie, one of our amazing parents. This video captures the warmth, creativity, and joy that make our Early Years provision so special. Watch the video here:
A heartfelt thank you to our staff, parents, and community partners for making these experiences possible. Together, we are creating a vibrant, supportive environment where every child can thrive.
